When you only have a few remaining healthy teeth (or none at all), our dentists may suggest fitting you for dentures. Dentures give you back your smile, the ability to eat your favourite foods and increase your confidence by replacing your natural teeth and gums. You want your dentures to be flexible and fit seamlessly; your mouth is constantly changing, so you will need to come back to Admiral House for occasional adjustments or relining.
Types of Dentures
Our team offer a range of different types of dentures, including:
Partial Dentures – these are for those patients who do have remaining healthy teeth, and just need a prosthetic to fill the gaps. Partial dentures attach to your remaining healthy teeth and can be clipped and unclipped as necessary.
Complete Dentures – providing you with a full set of new artificial teeth where you have none of your natural teeth left. These are held in place using suction and can last for many years of your life. If you do require any unhealthy teeth to be removed, we will issue you an immediate denture, which will work as an interim solution whilst your gums heal. Once ready, you’ll then be refitted and provided with a conventional denture which is made to fit your mouth perfectly.
Whatever type of denture you’re opting for, one thing you can be sure of is that the end result will always look natural. We work hard to colour-match, shape and fit dentures so that they don’t look unnatural and are easy to eat and talk with.
Am I Eligible For Dentures in Hertfordshire?
When you come to us for dentures, our team will always want to see you first to ensure this is the best solution for you. During that initial consultation, we will examine your gums and any remaining teeth for signs of disease or infection, as well as performing a thorough oral cancer check. Once satisfied that your mouth is healthy and doesn’t first require other types of treatment, we’ll then go on to measure your jaws and take impressions of your teeth to prepare for your denture.
If there are unhealthy teeth left, or teeth which may cause issues, we will chat to you about removing these, but be rest assured that we will only do this if absolutely necessary.
Whatever steps are required, you will be in complete control of your treatment from start to finish.
