Porcelain veneers at Admiral House Dental Practice

With minimal preparation needed, porcelain veneers can improve the colour, shape, and position of your teeth and rectify a range of dental problems – such as malformed, naturally small, and gappy teeth – that other dental treatments cannot.

Whether your smile is suffering at the hands of poor genetics or has deteriorated over time as a result of ageing, porcelain veneers will help restore your confidence as well as your pearly whites.

Porcelain veneer treatment

As one of the least invasive, most straightforward cosmetic dental procedures, there’s no wonder porcelain veneers are one of the most popular smile-restoring treatments!

The first step is to book a consultation with one of our highly trained, expert cosmetic dentists.

During the consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss the dental issues that are bothering you and what kind of smile you want to achieve. The dentist will also check your oral health to ensure that this is definitely the best treatment option for you.

We don’t recommend porcelain veneers, or any types of veneers, to patients:

  • With periodontal disease (gum disease)
  • With tooth decay
  • Whose natural enamel has worn away
  • Who are missing too much of their natural tooth

If everything goes as planned, your brand-new smile could be ready to show off in as little as three appointments!

We’ll go ahead and take a digital 3D scan of your teeth, mouth, and gums, working with you to determine exactly how you want your porcelain veneers to look.

Then, your scans will be sent off to our laboratory – where a set of temporary veneers will be created to give you the best preview of your new smile.

During your time with your temporary veneers, you can make as many adjustments – to the shape and shade – as you like before the permanent ones are fitted. You’re in full control.

Your permanent veneers will be ready in around two weeks, at which point we’ll arrange for you to come in to have them fitted – which could span two appointments if you’ve opted for both upper and lower sets.

With clear aftercare guidelines to follow, you’ll then be on your way.

After a month or so with your new porcelain veneers, we’ll see you for a review to make sure you and your smile are still gleaming!

Porcelain Veneers Berkhamsted FAQs

How much do veneers in Berkhamsted cost?

Porcelain veneers are typically more expensive than composite alternatives.

All practices charge different amounts, and the total cost depends on a few different factors – including the condition of your teeth and the prep work required, where you’re getting your veneers fitted, and even the location and skill level of your dentist.

Here at Admiral House Dental Practice, the price of our porcelain veneers start from £925 per tooth, which includes your consultation as well as the preparation of your teeth and the placement of your veneers.

We understand that not everyone can fork out so much money for dental work all in one go, but we also believe that everyone should have access to high-quality treatments to help them achieve their dream smiles.

This is why we’re proud to be able to offer a range of patient finance options – which make cosmetic dental procedures, like veneers in Berkhamsted, more affordable by allowing you to cover the cost in monthly interest-free repayments!

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are one of the best ways to improve the appearance of your teeth.

Whether you’ve got unsightly gaps, chips, or cracks in your teeth, or discolouration that teeth whitening can’t fix, they’re the ideal way to restore your smile. T hey last much longer than other tooth replacement options – like dentures or bridges, for example.

Typically, porcelain veneers last between 10-15 years until they need to be replaced. When taken care of properly, they can last for up to 20 years in some circumstances – so you can be confident you’re getting the best value for your money when you choose porcelain veneers.

How do I care for porcelain veneers?

If you want to make the most of your veneers and ensure that they last a long time, you need to make sure that you’re caring for them properly.

This includes:

  • Maintaining a good oral hygiene routine – brush and floss your teeth twice a day as normal, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. You should also attend a check-up with your dentist at least twice a year.
  • Reducing your alcohol and tobacco consumption – regular and excessive alcohol consumption can cause the bonding agent under your veneers to weaken over time, and tobacco can stain your veneers – just like your natural teeth.
  • Avoid grinding or clenching your teeth – clenching or grinding your teeth can wear down the porcelain over time, and even cause chipping or cracking. So, it’s best to try and knock this habit on the head or invest in a mouthguard if you’re struggling.
  • Steer clear of tough foods – whilst veneers are incredibly durable, chewing hard foods – such as nuts or raw carrots – can cause chipping and breaking. Chop hard foods into small pieces before eating them, and also avoid chewing on your nails or pens and pencils – or you run the risk of having to replace your veneers.

Try not to consume staining foods/drinks – yes, veneers are stain-resistant, but eating and drinking certain things can dull the whiteness. Try to avoid tomato sauces, tea, coffee, red wine, and soy sauce as much as possible.

Does it hurt to get porcelain veneers?

When considering getting porcelain veneers, many people worry about the procedure being painful.

The good news is that it shouldn’t be painful at all – thanks to the local anaesthetic we use to numb the area before treatment commences.

Mild soreness or sensitivity is completely normal, especially during the prep stage of the procedure, and you may feel some tenderness in the days following your treatment, but this is nothing that some over-the-counter-pain-medication – such as paracetamol or ibuprofen – won’t fix.
